The Army were out and about in the crap stormy weather this morning ... practising in their inflatable craft at Evans Bay ... and they didn't even wash their faces!!

#1913 ... Greased lightening
Not my photo but one taken by another quick Wellington person ... this has done the rounds on the internet and it really shows quite graphically the nature of the storm we had over the city. It took out our internet cable feed .. hence the delay in getting the blog posts done this week !! Apologies

#1909 ... 3D Camera
A 3D street camera being fine tuned on the back of a ute. Spherical lenses, spinning mirrors, lasers and lots of computing power to record 3D images as the vehicle moves along the street. The technician was setting up a camera to keep an eye on the super smart camera, from the comfort of the cab.

#1908 ... Keeping Count
A strange place to sit ... on the pavement in Featherston St ... however perhaps not if you are doing a pedestrian count survey.

#1907 ... A Home away from Home
The new Ronald McDonald House opposite Wellington Hospital. The scaffolding has been removed and fitting out is underway. For information on the the new house look at the plans. This building may not seem much, however it is a home away from home for families with children in hospital with life threatening conditions ... and when you talk to them they fully appreciate this haven and homely environment.
#1906 ... The Embassy
Not my photo .... however a great night image of the Embassy Theatre at the end of Courtenay Place ... one of Wellingtons grand movie theatres ... refurbished and still showing that classic character.
