#1614 ... It all comes down to this
After all the games, all the highs and lows of the Rugby World Cup, all the talk of walk-overs and ambushes, the final was played out between France and New Zealand ... a nail biter befitting a sporting final ... so this simple image says it all. A one point ball game and after 24 years the All Blacks succeeded in realising the dream.
The basic pleasure of celebrating the win by making snow angels in the ticker tape. Corey Jane and Israel Dagg. Not my image but thanks to the photographer who captured the moment after the game at Eden Park, Auckland.

#1602 ... Go the All Blacks
Rugby World Cup fever is apparent everywhere. The crane on the right is actually more of a museum piece ... these cranes were used for loading frozen lamb carcasses into refrigerated ships' holds for their long trip to the United Kingdom ... all replaced by containers now.

#1597 ... Gaffer Tape
Internationally acclaimed local street art team Struan Ashby and Erica Duthie tackled the huge front face of Te Papa. These Tape Artists are known for their whimsical silhouetted compositions, balancing large-scale with finely detailed life-size portraits. Working with blue and red tape, an idea (and two mighty big lifts), these artists will evolve an original art-work in response to the site and the moment.
They have three days to create a mural, which stays up for only 24 hours before being removed. This is the result of their creativity.

#1594 ... Ice Skating ???
Strange as it may seem ... an ice skating rink has been installed on Queens Wharf under the white sails. What is very obvious is that we have not grown up in a climate that has lots of ice in the winter ... given how many people keep close to the hand rail!
