Firstly this is not my photo and I have left Nicholas's name in it to give due credit for the image. 
Secondly, Wellington gets at least one day a year like this ... The city has an amazing calm summers day while the southern suburbs including the airport  are covered in a very thick sea fog. Many flights in and out of the capital were cancelled upsetting a lot of travel plans.

This is what many lawns look like after the hot dry spell. This morning Wellington had some gentle rain which will help freshen the vegetation. Sadly some of the rural areas especially in the South Island are experiencing severe drought conditions and need rain.
